Fantastic

Posted : 16 years, 12 months ago on 26 April 2007 04:58 (A review of The Color Purple)

Usually when it comes to novels being adapted to film I pick out all the faults and am thoroughly disappointed but in this case I think it was done beautifully. Even Whoopi Goldberg (who I don't usually like) played the part of Celie perfectly. Most of the detail was included too. The only problem was the length of it (I do have a short attention span though) but I believe that if they had of cut it shorter it wouldn't of done the story justice.

Hmm...

Posted : 17 years ago on 23 April 2007 11:01 (A review of The Covenant)

I was a bit iffy about this movie but it was pretty entertaining once you got past the bad acting and the annoying blonde woman. The fight scene at the end wasn't all that great either and it was on the predictable side. If a sequel doesn't come from this one after that ending well then I'll be a monkey's uncle. It was pretty much just a reason for good looking, sculptured people to run around and look good.

Pinocchio Eat Your Heart Out

Posted : 17 years ago on 23 April 2007 07:08 (A review of Strings)

You either love it or think it's absolutely stupid but it's one of those movies you just have to see for the experience. Basically there isn’t really much I can say about this movie, words just wouldn’t explain it enough.

Think Pinocchio but more serious and not for children.

Too Much Hype

Posted : 17 years ago on 23 April 2007 06:57 (A review of Brokeback Mountain)

I think if I wasn't so bored with this movie so soon it would've irritated the hell out of me. Don't get me wrong I think it was a great concept for a movie & I don't care about gay guys getting it on, I've seen it, its normal, but it was drawn out too long & those boys mumbling drove me to the brink of insanity. Plus the "Why can't I quit you line?" made me want to laugh. Its one of the worst lines I have heard in a movie so far. Great acting though besides that mumbling

Weak

Posted : 17 years ago on 23 April 2007 06:33 (A review of Eragon)

There are times when a novel adapted to a movie can turn out as a masterpiece and then there are times when one just shouldn’t bother even thinking about it. This was one of those times. It’s ok if you haven’t read the book and never plan to but if you have, save yourself the trouble, just stick with the book.

For starters majority of the details were left out not to mention specific characters, the acting wasn’t exactly what it should’ve been and the characters were weak. Absolutely weak! They could’ve fleshed it out more. The movie didn’t even go for two hours so they had time to fit in some more details but instead they opted for trying to make it more dramatic by getting the actors to make stupid whimsical faces.

Don’t waste your time. It was so weak not even John Malkovich could save it and that’s saying something.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang review

Posted : 17 years ago on 22 April 2007 11:34 (A review of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang)

I honestly can not understand what people like about this movie. I turned it off after 30 minutes. The reason being is because I found it not only boring but the narration really started to grate on my nerves.

I think this is one of those ones where you shouldn't decide if you'll watch it going by what others say.

In Justice review

Posted : 17 years ago on 18 April 2007 05:23 (A review of In Justice)

I think it says a lot about a show when they can't get their facts straight. It makes me question their professionalism and seriousness when researching. Eg; Two of the characters sitting in what is obviously a Dutch Waffle House. You can tell just how Dutch it is by the tulips, windmills and the outfit the waitress had on. The mistake was the waitress saying good morning in German.

Fortunately the show isn't very engaging so I wasn't very disappointed. A good concept but not pulled off well enough to keep you wanting to catch the next episode

Chicago review

Posted : 17 years ago on 16 April 2007 10:14 (A review of Chicago)

I think the most entertaining part of this movie, for me personally, was watching Richard Gere doing Cabaret. It's just something you don't expect to see.
It was a fun movie (fun because the dance scenes are catchy and fun to watch) but I only recommend it if you like a bit of a musical, intrigue and can handle Renee Zellweger's horrific acting. Seriously naturally she is a pain with the stupid faces she pulls but imagine her dancing? Makes you want to smack yourself in the face with a frying pan

Dogville review

Posted : 17 years ago on 16 April 2007 10:01 (A review of Dogville)

I found this movie to be absolutely mesmerising. It was just a great concept and I think it's one of Nicole Kidmans best performances. Also a great ending which I was not expecting (always a good thing in a movie of course). I think they all deserved it.

As a bonus it was so fascinating watching everyone open and close doors lol

Ali review

Posted : 17 years ago on 14 April 2007 07:03 (A review of Ali)

I honestly don't see what all the fuss was about with this movie. Yes Will Smith was pretty good acting wise but the way he talked annoyed me (I'm well aware he was playing the part of the real Ali as close as possible who, if he did originally talk like that, must of been so annoying.) and I found it difficult to get past that to actually pay attention to the movie. It also didn't help that I was bored half an hour into it and just about lost all interest. Ali was portrayed as a really arrogant bastard too so that turned me off. Basically when the disc started to act up and my dvd player didn't want to read it anymore lets just say I wasn't upset by it.

One for die hard Muhammad Ali and boxing fans more so then anyone else
