Thinner review
Posted : 11 months, 3 weeks ago on 6 September 2007 02:20
(A review of Thinner)Great lessons in this movie. Just goes to show that there are consequences to every action, lying to save your own arse doesn't get you anywhere in the end and revenge is never, ever sweet. Plus gluttony isn't exactly a good idea either. Unfortunately I've never read the book on this one so I can't say if the movie has done it justice but then they rarely do. The acting could've been a bit better but when people were going a bit mental they had just the right amount of nuttiness.

The Fantastic Planet review
Posted : 12 months ago on 31 August 2007 01:05
(A review of The Fantastic Planet)I love this movie not just for how odd it is but for the lessons it teaches. Probably not for everyone as it's a very odd planet with strange creatures and weird landscapes, that don't really make any sense what so ever. One thing that does make perfect sense is the storyline. It shows not only how ignorance can hurt other creatures but also how thinking you are a superior being can get you into a lot of trouble.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy review
Posted : 1 year ago on 26 August 2007 09:19
(A review of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy)I think, for me, what makes this movie is Will Ferrell. Don't get me wrong, everyone else was great in their own quirky way but if it wasn't for Ferrell I don't believe I would've laughed as much or even given this movie a rating of 8 (or watched it the whole way through). It wasn't the funniest movie I have seen and probably bordering on sheer stupidity that's not funny rather then silliness, but there were times when I laughed so much that I couldn't help but enjoy it.

The Phantom review
Posted : 1 year ago on 26 August 2007 09:06
(A review of The Phantom)I think this movie is basically just a reason to perv on Billy Zane while he runs around in a tight spandex outfit. To expect anything else is foolish. The story line is ok, but at the very bottom of the ok scale. The acting I'll comment on that by asking a question... What acting? And the dialogue? Well the dialogue is on the sad say. So all in all the movie is embarrassing to say the least but that's just if you're expecting an actual movie. A perve fest on the other hand... Well no disappointments there!

2046 review
Posted : 1 year ago on 9 August 2007 11:53
(A review of 2046)I want the last two hours of my life back. Boring, pointless and slow. Oh so slow. Although a 2 hour length film, to me this felt like it went for 4 hours. 4 painfully drawn out hours. Every time I thought it was about to end (which happened a lot) it would unfortunately continue. I'm still trying to figure out not only the point to this film but if there was any lesson to be taken away from it. I believe there is a lesson to be learnt in every story but I fail to see it in this one.
A movie I'm going to, hopefully, forget soon and be all the happier for it.

Romasanta review
Posted : 1 year ago on 8 August 2007 12:14
(A review of Romasanta)I watched this not knowing what to expect and honestly not expecting anything. I only watched it out of curiosity after picking it up three times at the video shop (on three seperate occasions, three's the lucky charm I guess) and I have to say I'm glad I rented it. I enjoyed it and for me, the fact that it was based on a true story made it more interesting. Also I found the 'transformation' actually one of the best werewolf ones so far surprisingly.
I have to say though if you are expecting a real thriller/horror sort of movie you might just be disappointed. Keep in mind that this was about a man who thought he was a werewolf not an actual werewolf film (werewolves don't exist obviously) so probably more of a drama on the verge of thriller then horror.

Hard Candy review
Posted : 1 year ago on 7 August 2007 01:00
(A review of Hard Candy)Excellent. I love the concept. It's so refreshing watching something different for a change rather then the same ole story and I thought it was great how they did the end leaving you wondering certain things (of course I can't elaborate because I'll give it away). I thought it was a very good performance from Ellen Page (Hayley) too, especially seeing as the topic wasn't a pleasant one.

The New Girlfriend review
Posted : 1 year ago on 4 August 2007 09:09
(A review of The New Girlfriend)Not the best Aussie film I've seen but not too bad. I found it very hard to watch at times, mainly because I know the area it was filmed in. The acting wasn't exactly any good but the story line was and it had a good moral lesson plus a dramatic ending.

The Untouchables review
Posted : 1 year, 1 month ago on 26 July 2007 12:18
(A review of The Untouchables)This movie did nothing for me. I was actually bored the whole way through it (I left half way to go do something else, I was that bored) and the music grated on my nerves. Now I feel like 2 hours have passed me by and I wasn't able to do anything productive with them.

Giraffe: A Novel review
Posted : 1 year, 1 month ago on 20 July 2007 08:38
(A review of Giraffe: A Novel)In 1975 the worlds largest captive herd of Giraffes was destroyed. This novel follows the giraffes from when they were captured to their final destination in Czechoslovakia.
This actually happened and knowing that it makes it quite a depressing story to read. It's also told through the eyes of several characters (all real characters) including one of the giraffes, which I think is what drew me to it in the first place. I found the style of it a bit hard to read sometimes but all in all it was pretty good, depressing but good.
